Hi, I'm Erica.

Writing is how I make sense of the world. It’s how I take what I’ve learned and figure out how I feel about it and whether it suits me. I’ve completed a 10-minute free writing exercise every day for more than a decade. That simple writing practice helps me gain perspective and formulate a well-considered point of view because it allows me to test, interrogate, and refine my thinking.

Writing is not about the ink; it’s about the think.

I started my career as a litigation attorney in Boston. I loved researching case law and writing legal briefs because each brief is like assembling a complex jigsaw puzzle. But the law was never quite the right fit.

Since leaving the practice of law, I’ve worked as a copywriter, grant writer, ghostwriter, writing instructor, content marketer, freelance writer, and professional editor. I believe in the transformative power of words and that writing can help us understand ourselves and one another on a deeper level.

Sometimes not knowing is powerful.

In 2023, I was invited to take the TEDx stage at Bentley University. It was an experiment. While I am comfortable facilitating workshops and interactive discussions, this was my first keynote-style talk. I wanted to experience what it felt like to share a personal story about my grandfather, his impact on my life, and how writing allows me to self-reflect. The talk is perfectly imperfect.
